Rain changes the geometry of a wedding day. People move closer. Plans become suggestions. Every practical light on the street turns into color.
I stopped trying to keep the day dry and started watching what the weather was giving us: hands held tighter, laughter that came from surrender, a city suddenly softened at the edges.
The photographs I care about most rarely arrive from perfect conditions. They arrive when everyone forgets the plan for a second and chooses the moment in front of them.
